Family Housing Network (FHN) of Catholic Community Services

UCUP supports FHN’s families with children across the seasons. During Advent we adopt families for holiday gift giving. In the past we served as a host site twice a year for providing beds, food, and friendship to families in transition. Associated Ministries with FHN and other agencies address the needs of the homeless through coordinated reentry. We continue to collect school supplies for FHN and meet other needs as able.
Associated Ministries (AM)
Associated Ministries is an organization that works with interfaith partners like UCUP who are called to address homelessness. AM works toward lasting solutions to homelessness. AM is a benevolence of UCUP. It is a crossroad for communication and cooperation, engaging and equipping faith communities and persons of goodwill to address the many needs in Pierce County through advocacy, education, and service. UCUP hosted AM in January 2023 for our Fourth Sunday Forum to better understand the complexity of serving this population.

My Sister’s Pantry, a Food Bank Donation Collection Site in Downtown Tacoma

We support area food banks including the Emergency Food Network (EFN) with our Christmas Eve collection and Hunger Walk; My Sister’s Pantry through the ongoing collection of food and clothing distributed at the First United Methodist Church of Tacoma Individuals may find themselves donating time packaging and distributing food at these agencies. My Sister’s Pantry is one of our benevolences.

Faith Action Network (FAN)

We support the work of Faith Action Network by joining with over 100 faith communities across Washington State to represent a powerful, moral voice for social change. With the belief that justice work is part of our religious calling, we partner with FAN to communicate with elected officials about critical social issues to advocate for a more just and sustainable world.

Part of the legislative agenda includes: reducing wealth inequality; funding and protecting health and mental health programs; dismantling a culture of violence; protecting housing and prevent homelessness; and sustaining the environment. We host a table for the Annual Dinner each year, and participate in the Interfaith Advocacy each year in Olympia.
One Great Hour of Sharing (UCC) and Global Ministries Our Church’s Wider Mission (UMC)
